No need for an introduction to the Louvre Museum, but we would like to tell you about the unmissable temporary exhibition: "Louvre Couture: Art Objects, Fashion Objects." This is a unique invitation for fashion enthusiasts and art lovers to explore the fascinating links between haute couture and historical masterpieces from the museum's collections. A unique immersion at the intersection of fashion and art.
A First at the Louvre Museum: Fashion in the Spotlight
For the first time, the Louvre Museum dedicates an entire exhibition to fashion. This exceptional retrospective brings together creations by the greatest fashion designers and young talents with iconic works of art from the museum. Like a haute couture collection, this temporary exhibition is designed with a fresh perspective and bold staging, evoking decorative arts and sculpture.
An Original Journey Between Fashion and Heritage
Far from a strictly chronological approach, the exhibition offers a free exploration through the centuries. Wander from the Middle Ages to the Renaissance, cross the Grand Siècle, and end your journey in the luxurious Napoleon III apartments, enhanced by flamboyant silhouettes inspired by imperial balls. You’ll also be able to admire 19th-century masterpieces and contemporary art works in dialogue with fashion.
An Exploration of Creations from Iconic Fashion Houses
Among the 100 creations on display, from around 50 iconic fashion houses such as Balenciaga, Lagerfeld, and Iris van Herpen, some reinterpret classical works of art from a new perspective. You will admire antique tapestries, sculptures, and 18th-century furniture, elevated in contemporary fashion pieces, offering a true exploration of the museum’s collections and the history of art.
An Immersive Staging by Nathalie Crinière
The experience is enhanced by the scenography of Nathalie Crinière, who is also behind the design of the Dior Gallery and exhibitions for Schiaparelli. Her work strengthens the immersion, providing visitors with a spectacular and refined staging, on par with the major temporary exhibitions in Parisian museums like the Musée d'Orsay, Centre Pompidou, or Grand Palais.
